How to Adjust the Brakes on My E-Z-GO Golf Cart
The E-Z-GO golf cart is equipped with a mechanical rear drum braking system that adjusts automatically based on brake shoe wear. The brakes adjust while the golf cart is moving. If the brake shoes have worn down enough, the system will turn a notched or star wheel that pushes the brake shoes closer to the brake drums. Contact between the shoes and drums creates the stopping force.
Get into the driver's seat of the golf cart.
Accelerate to full speed. Make sure you have enough room.
Press on the brake pedal to fully engage the braking system and then release the pedal before coming to a full stop. The golf cart must be moving for the braking system to adjust.
Warnings
To avoid damaging the braking system, do not manually adjust the brakes.
